Q: burning CD in Itunes

I have a Sony laptop that is Windows Vista. I've burned multiple CD's on this laptop before. Ever since March of this year it will not let me burn cd's anymore. The error code 4251 will pop up after it tries to burn the first song. I've tried a couple of things to get it to work but nothing has fixed it so far. What do I need to do?

    Hello kwiser22,

Thanks for your question.  I understand you are trying to burn a CD with iTunes.   What version of iTunes do you currently have on your Sony Vaio?  The resource provides the information you need to update your iTunes for Windows to the latest version that Vista supports.

If you can‘t install or update iTunes for Windows

    1. Make sure that you're logged in to your computer as an administrator.

If you're not sure if you have an administrator account, learn how to log on as an administrator. You can also refer to your computer's help system, contact your IT department, or visit support.microsoft.com for more help.

    2. Install the latest Microsoft Windows updates.

To download the latest updates, visit the Microsoft Windows Update website. iTunes for Windows requires Windows 7 or later, with the latest Service Pack installed. If you can’t install the updates, refer to your computer's help system, contact your IT department, or visit support.microsoft.com for more help.

    3. Download the latest supported version of iTunes for your PC from one of the links below. After you click the link, click Download to download the iTunes installer. When prompted, click Save (instead of Run). iTunes 12.1.3 is the latest version of iTunes supported for Windows XP and Vista.

iTunes 12.1.3 for Windows XP and Windows Vista 32-bit
iTunes 12.1.3 for Windows Vista 64-bit

    4. Right click on iTunesSetup or iTunes6464Setup (the installer you downloaded in step 3).

If you have Windows Vista or later: Choose "Run as administrator."

If you've previously installed iTunes, the installer will prompt you to repair the software.

After the repair is complete, restart your computer and try launching iTunes.

Try updating your iTunes software and burning another CD.  If the issue persists, try burning a CD using another application on your computer to help isolate the issue to hardware or software.

Please reply to this thread and let us know what happens when you try these steps.

    Take care.
