Q: iPad 4 Mini - Cannot split screen

Hi everyone,

I am having trouble on how to set up splitscreen on my iPad 4 mini.

I tried going on YouTube and looking for tutorials.  I cannot split the screen and cannot even access the one third screen.

Whenever I tried to swipe from the right edge, I see an arrow in the middle of the right screen that appears from the right.  Then it quickly disappears.   I tried to click on it or continue to drag it and to not avail.

I checked my settings (Settings -> Multitasking) and everything is enabled.

I am trying to split screen between Chrome and Evernote. App. I thought it might be bc these apps are not split screen enabled so I tried iPad default app (mail, Safari, and map).  None of them work.

Can someone help me or give me some tips on what I am doing wrong? I suspect I disabled a setting or something.

Thanks!

iPad Mini, iOS 9.3.5

The iPad Mini 3 cannot do split-screen, but your unit should do it fine. If multitasking shows as "enabled" in General/Multitasking, make sure all three tabs are enabled: "Show Multiple Apps," "Persistent Video Overlay," and "Gestures."

Multitasking cannot be invoked from the opening screen, when you see all the startup icons. However, after opening an app, you should be able to drag your finger from the far right side of the screen to the left. Use your finger to push down the upper right edge of the screen to find other apps.

This is kind of an important feature, so feel free to ask more questions.

    HI poikkeus1,

Thanks for the tip. I tried this and it still doesn't work.  In the multi-tasking settings, everything is enabled.

When I press my finger on the upper right edge, a little right in the middle right side will pop out.  Then it will slide back to the edge (right side) and disappear.  I tried to drag from right to left, nothing happens.

See "Use Slide Over" here for an illustration and detailed suggestions:

As shown, slide over may work best in portrait mode.
