The exception to this - and this might be relevant to you - is the more esoteric keyboards that have numerous additional function keys beyond the standard keyboard setup. These need drivers that tell the OS what the extra keys are for. Some manufacturers provide Mac-specific drivers. Others build Mac-specific keyboards. You'd have to look at your preferred keyboard to see what drivers it might need.
So at the end of the day, the basic keyboard functions should just work. Special keyboards might need a little extra help to unlock their potential.
