Q: Pages App

Im trying to open up Pages on my Mac and it won't open, Ive had to force quit to be able to shut the machine down and after restarting the same thing just the multi coloured circle keeps turning, Ive tried deleting the app of my machine but when I go into the Apps store it just gives me the option to open not download again, it still won't open from here.  Ive just completed a rather large document and I need to get into it to be able to edit :-(

If you want to delete Pages app, just put pages app to Trash and empty it.

Or you can download free Appcleaner from macupdate.com and use that app to delete Pages app.

I would try to open the Pages.app by holding down the SHIFT key and then opening Pages from within your Applications folder or your Dock.

Doing this SHOULD stop Pages from trying to re-open a document you may not have closed before Quiting Pages. If Pages launches correctly then you can try opening your document. (If Pages will STILL not launch then you may need to follow other advice to delete and re-install it).

Hopefully it will not be your valuable document that is causing Pages to 'stall' while launching.

If it continues to give you problems you may need to restore an earlier version from your Time Machine backup.

Pam's suggestion to use the shift key when launching Pages should do the trick. If it does not, then perform a Safe Boot, check that Pages works correctly in that mode, and then follow with a normal boot. Launch Pages (without the shift key) again.

There should be no reason to remove Pages and reinstall it, and using any categorical “Mac cleaner” application  is not recommended as they tend to “over clean” and remove additional content that impacts other applications, and the stability of the Mac.

If you ever want to repeat a download from the OS X App Store, then use the option key when clicking the Purchase tab.
