Q: iTunes sync contacts to iPad fails
Recently upgraded to iTunes 12.4.3.1 on the MBA, and to iOS 9.3.4 from 9.3.2 on the iPad mini 2. When I attempt to sync contacts between the two devices, new contacts are pulled into the MBA, but the sync back to the iPad fails with the following error message: "iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPad "<name here>" because the sync server failed to sync the iPad." This appears to be failing at the last step in the process. The progress bar and messages go through 5 or 6 steps successfully before this failure (I've tried it, watching, more than once.)
Prior to these upgrades, this had been working successfully. I really don't want to slosh my contacts through iCloud. Any thoughts from a more-expert user on how to fix? Any prospect of getting the sync to work if I replace all the contacts on the iPad with those on the MBA (one choice on the info sync page).
Thanks!

The problem was solved by replacing the contacts on the mobile device with the contacts on the computer. I also noticed that the update (either to iTunes or to the iOS) had ADDED sync of photos. I turned this off during initial troubleshooting, and then left this off.
