Q: Downgrading MacMini7,1 to SnowLeopard

Except for running Mac OS X Server 10.6 inside a product such as VirtualBox, that Mac is too new to use Snow Leopard.

It is not possible for that Mac Mini to be downgraded to Snow Leopard. It is only capable of running newer versions of OS X.

Why do you need to downgrade to Snow Leopard?

That Mini will not run anything less than 10.10 that it came with, there are no drivers for it's hardware in lower versions.

That being said, if you get 10.6 Server edition, it can be run in a Virtual Machine using Parallels or such.

The 2014 Mini was originally shipped with 10.10 (Yosemite) so if you have another Mac that can run Yosemite you can install Yosemite on yur 2014 Mini

Lion and later are digital downloads, not a disk.

Unless you previously downloaded Yosemite it is not available for download

The early 2014 purchased about before Oct 2015 were shipped with Yosemite, later ones with El Capitan since El Capitan was then available.

If your Mac shipped with Yosemite then you can:

- Backup data

- Boot to Internet Recovery

If you can't start up from OS X Recovery, try holding down Option-Command-R to start up from OS X Internet Recovery*.
