Q: Siri and Talk2text software glitch

After the latest 9.3.5 update My Siri function as well as talk to text stopped working.

I researched this through previous threads and tried everything apple said to try and correct the problem.

I've made sure my siri function is turned on,

Checked all of my settings

Restarted the phone

Made sure no updates were needed.

Reset my network settings

All to no avail.  So I tested a couple theories that others posted.  I opened my voice memo and successfully recorded.  Therefore I know the microphone hears me.  I can FaceTime and make audio calls fine.

I then plugged in headphones and tried the Siri function.  Worked perfectly.

So, this has to be a software glitch!  Apple please address this problem!

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.5

    Greetings Mryan12,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Based on your post, I see that Siri and the talk to text function has stopped working after you updated to iOS 9.3.5. I can imagine that it's concerning to have an issue with something that worked fine with a previous iOS version. I'm happy to help assist you in finding the best resolution.

It looks like you have already done some great troubleshooting. I would also like you to force close all apps on your iPhone and test again. This can help isolate the issue from any apps running in the background in standby mode that could be causing a conflict with Siri. The following article will help force close all apps:

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

And please try the steps in article Use Siri on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, specifically, this section:

    Get help with Siri

    • If "Hey Siri" isn't working, make sure that "Hey Siri" is turned on under Settings > General > Siri.
    • Siri might say, "Sorry, I'm having trouble connecting to the network," or "Try again in a little while." This is probably a network issue. Check your Internet connection and try again later.
    • When you're using Siri to dictate, dictation is limited to about 30 seconds.

If Siri isn't available, or doesn't understand or respond to questions

Before you try these steps, make sure that your device works with Siri. After each step, see if Siri is working.

    1. Make sure that your iOS device has an Internet connection through Wi-Fi or cellular data.
    2. On your iOS device, make sure that Siri is turned on under Settings > General > Siri.
    3. Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    4. On your iOS device, go to Settings > General > Siri and turn off Siri. Then turn it on again.
    5. If you're using an iOS device, try to use Siri with a headset. If Siri only works when you're using a headset, get help with the microphones on your device.
    6. Contact Apple Support.

If Siri doesn't make a sound when you hold down the Home button

On your iPad or iPod touch, Siri will chime when it's time to ask a question. If you have an iPhone with iOS 9 or later, Siri will vibrate instead. You'll only hear the chime on your iPhone with iOS 9 or later when you're using headphones.

Siri will also chime when you use "Hey Siri" on a device with iOS 9.

    Best Regards.
