Q: Photos on macbook pro unavailable

I cannot access my photos on my macbook pro from most programs and apps. It seems that my library is not accessible by anything anymore to get photos. Examples of programs I'm trying to use to pull photos off are google drive, ms outlook for mac, ms anything for mac.

What's up with this terrible new photo program or feature or whatever it is called that came after the demise of iphoto?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

No - it is your lack of having up to date software

Like many new OS releases in order to fully use their features you have to update other applications too.- any application that does not have media browser access needs an update from its author

As a work around you can export photos from Photos to a desktop folder and use from there

That cannot be correct. Every app I have is automatically downloaded and updated therefore I don't think that is helpful information but thank you anyway.

    Ok - what ever

I think you will find that auto update only does minor updates and that you still have to download and install (and maybe purchase) major upgrades - typically when the first digit or possibly second digit of the version number changes - like OS X 10.10.x to OS X 10.11.x

What version of MS Outlook do you have? The latest is Outlook 2016 -

    Humm

I guess that maybe it is correct - and as I originally posted

No - it is your lack of having up to date software

I'm not sure shy you posted this

That cannot be correct. Every app I have is automatically downloaded and updated therefore I don't think that is helpful information but thank you anyway.

when you actually knew that your software is not up to date

You will discover that I am correct and that when you do get up to date the media browser will work because MS has added that support to their new software - as I said

    Have a nice day
