Q: Battery for MBP Mid-2012 ?

Hello,

I would like to know if Apple can sell me a replacement battery for my MBP Mid-2012, 13-inch, Non-retina ?

Or do I have to have apple install it for me?

If so where can I buy it and how much is it?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

A:

Apple will sell you a battery but will insist on installing it. Any Apple store should be able to supply a battery for your MBP.

If you wish to purchase a third party battery, to date veteran ASC participants have identified two brands that have achieved satisfactory performance levels: Anker and NuPower from OWC.

Too often bargain batteries as found on ebay have often proven to be very disappointing. Avoid them even though the price may be attractive. Search these forums for many tales of woe with such batteries.

Apple would be happy to service your MBP for you. Here is a repair guide for changing the battery, looks easy enough.

Okay, I found this Anker macbook battery on Amazon it reads that it is for Macbook Pro mid-2012 13" model MD101LL/A which is what I have.

Is this the battery you are talking about?

If so , I will probably purchase this battery and do the repair myself. My MBP is already out of warranty as it is old model.

I do not live close to an Apple store and do not feel like making the long drive just to replace the $50 battery.

This anker battery kit comes with the special screwdrivers you will need.
Looks like a very simple task to replace the battery.

I personally have not used Anker batteries but veteran ASC participants whom I trust have, hence my recommendation. The description suggests that it is the correct battery, but in the end, you must do the proper research.

Installation is easy but the one thing you should be aware of is disconnecting and connecting the battery. If you use an electrical conducting tool and short the plug. severe damage to the MBP is a possibility. Keep that in mind when installing the battery.
