Sep 1, 2016 3:31 PM in response to deceasedby deceased,I posted this original thread concerning 9.3.5 battery drain.
Overnight my niece's iPhone 6 [4.7] updated to 9.3.5. the next morning it was dead. After fully charging it, it only took 6 hours for the battery to reach 16%. As most twenty something’s her phone gets quite a lot of use but normally get 36 hours before it dies.
I’m a very light user, my SE usually lasts 5 days before I charge it @ 20%
Even my Wife’s 4s, which had a new battery installed by Apple 10 months ago, got 2 ½ days.
So that’s all 3 iPhones in the household exhibiting the same ridiculous battery drainage immediately after updating to 9.3.5. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
Only my iPad 3 mini, NOT UPDATED, is still performing as expected.

Sep 2, 2016 9:05 PM in response to deceasedby Mark Mcintyre1,As previously mentioned I had this problem w both iPhone and iPad. iPhone resolved itself. For the iPad, I turned on Auto-Lock and reset modem. Fixed the battery drain problem. Not exactly sure why, but did the trick.

Sep 5, 2016 9:59 AM in response to markuskubinby iMusicc,After updating to 9.3.5, I instantly noticed a battery drain on my iPad Pro 9.7 and it's brand new. I know it's not a hardware issue for a fact, Apple needs to fix this. I've tried all the battery tricks and that did nothing.

Sep 7, 2016 1:41 AM in response to Meg St._Clairby Redfern,I'm having the same problem with my iPad Air 2 since upgrading to 9.3.5. I wasn't going to upgrade because I was quite happy on 9.3.1 but the prompt suggested that this upgrade was necessary. Since the upgrade the battery drain has been significant. I've taken all the steps suggested in different articles to preserve battery life but after starting to use the iPad twenty minutes ago on 100% it's now down to 75% and I've just been checking my mail and researched this issue. Before I back up and do a factory reset I just want to mention that since the upgrade I've been checking the battery stats and the Home screen is always responsible for around 25% of usage. Does this seem right? My friends iPad Air 2 (still happily on 8.4) indicates that their home screen usage is around 5%

Sep 9, 2016 8:06 PM in response to redbikby TiredBattery,I also have this problem with a 4S. No battery problems ever until 9.3.5. update, then severe rapid battery drain. It's terrible. Hope Apple fixes it.

Sep 9, 2016 8:29 PM in response to deceasedby zeromeus,I had this issue with my iPhone 4S, too. This happened ever since iOS 8. The battery life on my 4S had been horrible since I updated to iOS 8 and every iOS thereafter.

Sep 9, 2016 8:32 PM in response to deceasedby zeromeus,I noticed that whenever I restore or start on a new phone and restore from iCloud, it ALWAYS drain the batteries because my phone has to download a ton of stuff from the cloud. After I leave it to completely restore everything, the battery drain issue goes away. This happens with every iPhone or iPad I've ever had. So every time I restore from iCloud, I keep my device plugged in and let it restore. Once the restore process completes, the battery drain problem goes away. I always notice that battery drains quicker whenever there's a small message on the screen that says, "restoring from iCloud."

Sep 10, 2016 10:10 AM in response to zeromeusby deceased,I never use iCloud, never have never will. I like my data where it is, with me.
I have, however, backed up my phone, factory reset it, restored from the backup [quite annoyed 'cos I lost all my custom ringtones, had to recreate them] & the deplorable battery drain still continues. My phone [SE] sits with a black screen for 99% of the time, it is very lightly used & my battery life is about 20% of what it was pre 9.3.5. I'm going to wait until iOS10 rolls out on Monday [13th Sept] & see if that fixes it If not I will be downgrading to 9.3.2 & never purchasing an Apple product again.
That's OK for my SE but 4s & earlier won't get iOS10 so unless Apple release a 9.3.6 to fix it they've potentially just bricked thousands if not millions of iPhones. Not sure if that business plan's going to work in the long term. -
Sep 10, 2016 10:23 AM in response to deceasedby deceased,Addendum.
One thing I have noticed is that my SE battery usage is about normal when I’m at my work place. Pre 9.3.5 I normally got about 1 hour for 1% of battery. Whilst in the office my 100% charged phone was 93% @ the end of the working day, 8 hours later. Wow, I thought, maybe it’s fixed. However, overnight the phone lost 52% sitting on the table untouched. I get a very strong cell signal @ work but home is 1 “dot” & sometimes “no signal”. So is the bug how the phone handles low cell signal strength? Another oddity is that it is no longer Lock screen using the most battery [ 75%], now it’s GPS Altimeter [48%] an App I downloaded months ago & haven’t used since?
