Q: do i need to delete imovie9 before upgrade to latest version

i need to upgrade to latest version of iMovie as 9 does not respond with El Capitan.

do i need to completely delete 9 b before i do that?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

    Hi,

     

    No, you do not need to delete iM9 before upgrading to iMovie 10.1.2 (latest version).   Both versions can remain on your computer.   iM10.1.2 allows you to update your iM9 projects and events so that they will play on the new version.   So, that's why you would want to leave iM9 on your computer, so you can do the update.

    Thanks. iM9 projects don't work anymore. cannot accees videos or photos. Had to create a folder to upload on to iM9 and even after that cannot play edited video.

    hence wants to upgrade.
