Q: Water Damaged iPhone
Greetings,
I found myself in a difficult situation. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated!
I own a iPhone 6s Plus 64 GB. I left the United States in route to Egypt for the military. While on standby in Kuwait, my phone slid off where I momentary placed it and it dropped in some water. How I managed to drop it in water in a desert I do not know. I do not have AppleCare either I told myself I would take care of this one...
I immediately turned it off. Once I found some uncooked white rice, I placed the phone in an airtight bag with the rice for 3 days. When I turned it on it worked, however the screen was acting a little strange. Furthermore, the speaker no longer worked and the front camera was fuzzy. A couple days later the screen stopped working. I was able to use Find my iPhone to delete all content, but the phone to be was broken. Plus, a piece of rice even managed to get jammed in the headphone jack.
I am seeking advice regarding Apple's "Out of Warranty" repair. Currently the phone is in route back to Denver where my significant other will bring it into an Apple Store. Since I feel like the phone is fairly broken, do you think Apple will fix it for the out of warranty repair cost of $329? Or do you feel that it is too far gone?
Thank you for your time. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Have a wonderful day!

That out of warranty fee is for a replacement. Apple doesn't do repairs as such, they replace with a service unit. The service unit will be like new and will re-instate the remainder of your original warranty, or 90 days, whichever is longer.
