Q: Google shows my Weather location as San Francisco.

I live in Buckingham (Dallas).  I don't know how this change to San Francisco was made.  It just showed up one day  a couple of weeks ago and System will not let me change back to my correct location for weather.  Called Apple Support and no help.  Referred me to Weather Channel but so far have not gotten anything but voice mail.  What happened and how can I get my weather back to Buckingham (Dallas)?  I have a Time Machine backup but am leary of trying this first.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Have you checked Date & Time preferences?

Your question lacks so much information that it is really hard to figure out even where to begin.

It may have two components, but it's hard to tell.

    1. Your Mac is acting as if it's in an incorrect location.
    2. Some weather app (which app is not at all clear) is displaying its weather information for an area I am not interested in.

So it's not clear, for example, if you expect this weather app to display weather information for your current location, or Dallas (regardless of your current location).  And, it's not clear if you're using some Google App, Weather Channel, or your Mac's Notification Center or Dashboard to display your weather.

Having said that, you should check System Preferences > Date & Time > Time Zone to see if your current location is set correctly.  Also check System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Location Services to assure the proper applications have access to your location.  This would then lead to seeing the correct weather location if you are using Notification Center or Dashboard.

I'm also somewhat lost at your question. However, if you mean the Weather location is wrong on the Google News page. That is affected by what you set as your location and whether it's set automatically.

I Checked both and corrected my location.  It had SF although I have no idea where that came from.  I also set location to local which came up Dallas.  Voila.  The settings solved the problem.  How else could it be?

the underlying mystery of how SF got there in the first place is not resolved.  I just know that I didn't put it there and it happening by "accident" is too preposterous .  I am an experienced user and 76 years old with maybe 30 years in computer technology (marketing) And I go back to the first PCs and mainframe assembly language.  Still can be baffled.  GE

I'm not sure which settings you changed. If you mean on your Google News page then I don't understand why you marked sberman's reply. If you changed it in system preferences I'm not sure why you are addressing me. At any rate, glad it's now working.
