Q: Odd thing happened when I tried an El Capitan security update
Hello .Basically I got a pop message yesterday telling me ICloud could not connect with my Gmail account and then as I proceeded with the update my iMac logged out but would not log back in as the progress bar would not complete .I tried restarting to no avail, then after another restart I tried Command R - disk utility - first aid and all was fine. Then a reinstall via Command R again and the progress bar ran twice but would not complete the second run so i left it overnight.I came back the next morning found it had not completed but got the same iCloud pop up message I had before. Not sure what I did exactly bar click on a few options, but the desktop reappeared so things are working ok now.Only thing is that update has not been completed and I am hesitant about doing it again lest the same thing happens. Can someone please enlighten me as I now have two updates pending? Thanks
iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), apple tv, mini iPad

hope fully I may have sorted things using this http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac/10-steps-take-when-your-mac-wont-start-up-o r-turn-on-3423817/
I shut down this morning so as to restart the router and experienced the same problem ,tried to safe start as suggested in the link and things seems to be ok .Still no chime in the start up though
