Q: Old photos not included in smart albums

Hello - I recently migrated to Photos (from Aperture) and cannot get my older photos to be included in my smart albums - in particular when searching for particular faces.  Only recent photos are included in the albums, I suspect those taken after the migration.  Any ideas?

    Photos may still be updating the faces database after the migration. 

    Do the photos you are looking for appear in the faces album for the person, or are they are not there?

     

    Do the older photos appear in the smart albums, when you are searching for the name with "Text contains" instead of with a face rule?

    Leonie - thanks for the response.  The old photos appear in Faces (but not in smart albums).  Same if I do a text search...  Any thoughts?

    Which version of Photos are you using? Are you currently running the most recent El Capitan version? 

    The search worked not well at all in the early Photos versions in Yosemite.

     

    And Photos is probably still building its Faces database by scanning your library. That can take a few days because the background processes will only happen while you are not using Photos.
