Q: iMessage and FaceTime Activtion
Hi,
I want to activate iMessage and FaceTime and i'm experiencing problems. To activate it i toggled iMessage on in settings and set it to "Use Apple ID" because i wanna use it another country and the carrier charges would be pretty high if i turn on "Send as SMS". It's been eight hours since I toggled FaceTime and iMessage on and haven't received the activation code and it still says "Waiting for activation". Before this I had tried toggling both iMessage and FaceTime off in settings and restarting the phone and also resetting network settings, resetting the phone and even restoring the device, but none of those solutions worked. I even tried using another Apple ID but still, the issue remains.
I have called the carrier and asked them if they are blocking the server that sends the activation code and they said no. I can send and receive messages without any problems.
Is there any way to fix this FaceTime and iMessage activation issue? Also, (this may sound a little silly but this is my very first IOS device and i don't know this) will i still be able to receive SMS from non iPhone devices if I activate iMessage successfully (with "send as sms" toggled off). and if i reply to those messages, will those messages be charged as MMS?
Sorry for all the ******** questions.
