Q: Can't download El Capitan
Hello!
I've got a problem - El Capitan wouldn't download on my MacBook Air 2008 that I got a couple of weeks ago. When I try to get it from AppStore it says "This version of OS X 10.11 cannot be installed on this computer."
I know my Mac is kinda old, but it says on the Apple site that El Capitan is available for MacBook Air late 2008
Any ideas why that is happening and how to fix it?
P.S. Now my Mac runs Lion 10.7.5, so it turns out it's last OS it can run?
Thank you in advance!

Two models of MacBook Air were issued in 2008. The earlier one, identifier 1,1, model number A1237 (this should be visible on the underside) can't be upgraded further than Lion 10.7.5; the later one, identifier 2,1, model number A 1304 can be upgraded to El Capitan.
From the response you get it sounds as if you have the earlier model; if so I'm afraid there is nothing you can do to go any higher than Lion.
