Q: iphone 6 and macbook pro not connecting on airdrop

Hi, my Macbook Pro (El Capitan) and my iPhone 6 (iOS 9.3.5) do not communicate with each other over AirDrop and also do not connect to each other with Bluetooth. When I turn on Bluetooth the devices discover each other but are not connecting. Same with AirDrop. When I open the AirDrop window on my Mac it does not even discover the phone. Help!!

An iPhone will not pair via Bluetooth to a computer (Mac or Windows) except for personal hotspot and then only if your cellular plan supports it. See the following for more information. https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7722

If you are attempting to use Handoff/Continuity or AirDrop, that does involve Bluetooth but the devices are NOT paired; Bluetooth just needs to be on and the devices in range of each other.

Hopefully someone else will reply with more help on your AirDrop problem.
