Q: Anyone else have their iPad Air 2 wifi rendered/greyed out from Apple 9.3.5 update?

I finally caved-in and updated to the 9.3.5 update over the Labor Day weekend. I was really annoyed from the update reminders whenever I accessed my iPad. However the 9.3.5 update practically bricked my iPad because WIFI is disabled/greyed out and no bluetooth right after the update. I tried a few tricks afterwards and nothing changed, especially I realized I cannot even login to my apple id account because I did not have access to the internet or bluetooth.

So I went online on my laptop and talked with the Apple Online live chat only for them to tell me that my warranty has expired and they can only offer me Chat Tech Support. So I followed a few tasks assigned to me by the Online Customer Support. I followed all the tasks of course. I was told to reset network (I did this) and do a factory reset (I did this as well). After doing both, my wifi was still greyed out/disabled. So the Online Tech Rep told me to bring it into an Apple store for help and that is all he can do online to help me. So on the following Tuesday after Labor Day, I took it to the store and the lady that helped me though that it was weird so she took her laptop out and re-updated my iPad to 9.3.5 to see if it was a software issue and it was the same result. So the lady, immediately said I should get a new iPad and replace mines! (Of course I was flustered and a bit annoyed, since IT IS THE FAULT OF APPLE and 9.3.5 UPDATE that rendered my wifi useless!) Not to mention they suggested me that I can trade-in my iPad for $170 for a new one to pay less for the new one...

My question is, has anyone else have their wifi disabled/greyed out after the update? And did anyone find a solution to Apple's fault?

Unlikely (though not impossible) that this is related to 9.3.5. Sounds more like a potential hardware fault with the Wi-Fi/BT card in the device that just so happened to coincide with your installation of 9.3.5. The fact that the Apple technician restored the device to factory defaults and the issue persisted agrees with this theory.

I've come across many iDevices with similar issues, and as the Apple support technician advised, you should consider a replacement for/repair of your iPad.
