Q: iOS 9.3.5 Draining iPhone 5s Battery!

Hi

Having updated my iPhone 5s to iOS 9.3.5 my phone battery barely lasts 7 hours - and that is with no apps left open and very little usage. My phone prior to the update lasted minimum 2 days with apps open and lots of use. This update seems to be draining the battery at a ridiculous rate!

Anyone else having this problem or know if apple are aware of this issue? Will they bring out a new update to fix this issue?

Thanks.

    Hello KWebby16,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue with your iPhone after an update is not what you expect. The following steps and articles will be helpful in troubleshooting your issue with battery life on your iPhone:

    1. First, restart your device as the shut down and start up process is important to keep the iOS software running properly. Then test the issue and monitor Settings > Battery:

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    2. Next, adjust settings like Background Activity or Location and Background Location as this article suggests, and also check that you turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not actively using them:

    Cheers!

Do you have an Apple Watch?  I think I isolated my problem to that. My phone was drawing even while charging. I unpaired my watch and I am charging again. My watch was hot when I took it off the charger this morning which confused me as I didn't use it all weekend. When I looked at battery usage the last 24 hours, it had my calandear watch app as 50%.

IF this is the case, it is the last straw for my watch.

    Hey,

I went to the Apple store today and they have no idea, they ran all checks on my battery which confirmed my battery is in very good condition - only lost 5% capacity since i got it a year and a half ago.

They ran another check which again diagnosed no issues with my battery but it did show the battery life and usage over the last week and the 'genius' agreed that my battery is completely draining without any usage.

He suggested doing a hard reset and if that does not work to go back in. I am going to do the hard reset but I know that iOS 10 is being released this week, so if the hard reset does not work I will wait to update to that operating system to see if that helps.

    Hey,

Unfortunately I don't have an apple watch - they look pretty smart but not ventured there yet, but thanks for the suggestion.
