I've got 6 different devices that have been updated and am not experiencing any issues. If a reboot is the only troubleshooting you have tried, then the next steps are restore from backup, and then restore to factory. You can also make a Genius Bar appointment and have Apple examine the device. While the battery on a 5s should still be in serviceable condition, they can check all of that for you.
