Q: Photos smart album keyword problem

I'm using Photos for Mac v1.5.  I create two smart albums for a publishing process;  'staging' & 'published'.   The photos have other keywords for criteria but use either 'staging' & 'published' to indicate their process step.  I review items in the staging SA, publish, then add the keyword 'published' & delete the keyword 'staging'. 8 out of 10 times this work fine.

Consistently, however, this process fails and the photo ends up in both smart albums even though 'staging' keyword is no longer attached.  I've tried deleting all tags and restarting Photos.  Also, if I search on the 'staging' keyword the problem photos will NOT appear.

It's a small but annoying problem. Any guesses as to how to correct?

Thanks

hard to say with so little information - obviously you think you have done everything correctly but since something is not working the best place to look first is at the exact criteria fro each album

another piece of useful information would be to take one photo that is in a smart album it should not be in and right click and get info to see exactly what keywords are there

Have you checked in the Keyword Manager > Edit Keywords list, if you have duplicate entries of your Staging keyword? If the keyword is unique, with no conflicting versions of the same keyword, I'd delete the smart album "Staging" and recreate it with a new name.

If that does not help, repair the Photos library.  https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/pht6be18f93

Thanks for replies.  Problem was user error. In trying to solve the problem i had deleted all key words from the problem photos.  I had also deleted the smart albums and then recreated them but the problem persisted.  The error was that in setting up up the smart album I used Text -> Includes - "Staging" rather than Keyword -> Is -> "Staging".

FYI:  Text -> Is -> "Staging" also fixed the problem.  And for what its worth, Text -> Includes would find "Staging" even when there were no keywords, no title, no description, and the file name did not contain the string "Staging".
