Sep 6, 2016 3:17 PM in response to Ueli Schraderby VikingOSX,★HelpfulOS X installs the System fonts, and if you whacked one of these, you can only get it back in the following approach.
- Move the current “damaged” Symbol font to your Desktop
- Apply the OS X combo update for your specific installed version of OS X
- I will post back a link to the proper combo updater, if you share the specific version of OS X that is currently installed.
- This will reinstall the System fonts, including the correct Symbol font.

Sep 6, 2016 3:19 PM in response to Ueli Schraderby Ueli Schrader,PS. I am reacting only at night, because my Mac is at home. During the day at office I am forced to work with the windows machines. So far it is working but I - much - prefer the mac.

Sep 6, 2016 3:30 PM in response to Ueli Schraderby Barney-15E,Nobody knows what will happen with beta software. You probably should ask this question on the forums you were directed to use when having problems with the beta software.
However, Font Book has a command to Restore Standard Fonts in the File menu. I couldn't tell you if the command still exists in the beta, but it may fix the problem if it is there.

Sep 6, 2016 5:36 PM in response to Ueli Schraderby dialabrain,FWIW, most likely you will have to wait until Sierra is released and the installer will most likely replace the missing font. Of course if you have a backup from before you deleted the font you could do a restore.

Sep 6, 2016 5:57 PM in response to Ueli Schraderby Barney-15E,As I understand your, the font was damaged, not deleted. I don't know how the restore works, but if it finds the font still there, it may not try to replace it. But, I'm not sure I know how to delete it to try to see if Restore would work.
Reinstalling the OS would be the next thing I would try. Reinstalling from Recovery should be mostly painless.
