Q: sending notes

I have a new iPhone SE and have encountered a problem that I had on my older phone but don't remember how it was resolved. I often use the Notes app to send messages to myself via email. I'm more likely to see them if they show up in my mailbox than by sharing them with Notes on other devices via iCloud. I've realized that notes sent from the new phone don't show up in my mailbox. They do if sent from an iPod Touch, so the problem seems to be communication between the phone and other devices. Is there a setting I can change?

    Hi,

Update the iPhone SE to iOS 9.3.5 then see if you can share Notes via email.

I've determined that the problem has something to do with the way mail is set up on the phone. I noticed that my email screen said there were 10 unsent mails, so I found that folder and they were all messages I had sent to myself. A window then popped asking for a password, but my email account password was rejected, so I'm not sure what other password it's looking for (something to do with an SMTP account). As an experiment, I set up a new account temporarily using another ISP and was able to send mail. So what I need to figure out is what's wrong with my original email account. I don't have any trouble receiving mail, just sending, although I thought I had been able to send before, but just not from Notes. I've only had the phone a month and haven't sent that many notes or messages, since I use an iPod Touch for a lot of that communication rather than the phone.
