Sep 6, 2016 7:35 AM in response to LevitheDeviby Jim Wanamaker,★HelpfuliMovie 11 is not fully compatible with El Capitan and exhibits many anomalies. The only solution is to upgrade to iMovie 10.1.2 which is the latest.

Sep 6, 2016 4:07 PM in response to LevitheDeviby Jim Wanamaker,When you say it doesn't load in more than 5 seconds of a clip are you referring to importing tape or video file or are you referring to adding clips from the browser to the timeline? As to lagging do you have your media on an EHD or on the boot drive. What are your computer specs i.e. RAM and video RAM? Lagging is most commonly caused by slow delivery of media from where it's stored or insufficient graphics memory.

Sep 6, 2016 4:18 PM in response to Jim Wanamakerby LevitheDevi,I have a 4gb RAM and drag in in videos from my desktop and/or my SD card. i have also tried uploading my videos directly to imvie and dragging them in from there. My imovie mostly crashes or starts loading really long. I have tied making a different profile on my mac before and copying hte videos from a USB drive. This worled the first time, but as soon as I tried dragging in a nother one it crashes again. Im thinking about copying my mac onto and external harddrive and doing a system restart (deleting everything), do yu think this would work?

Sep 6, 2016 6:09 PM in response to LevitheDeviby Jim Wanamaker,If when you say system restart you mean reinstalling the OS I would not do that unless you are experiencing problems in other programs as well. 4gb of RAM is marginal for OS 10.11 El Capitan. Media should be on an EHD formatted MAC OS Extended journaled. The EHD should be thunderbolt or USB 3 interface. I am not clear on your different profile. Is that a new user account? The proper way to import media whether from a HD or SD card is to use the import function in iMovie. You can drag and drop from the desktop as well. Also try opening iMovie holding down the command and option keys and select to delete preferences to see if that helps.
