Q: Problems with text messaging

I recently got an iPhone 6s last week and it has been working just fine but for some reason one of my friends(who is an android user) is not receiving my texts.  They have sent things to me and I can see them and when I reply they are unable to see or receive my texts. I tried restarting my phone and I have turned on my sms messaging as well.  I used to have an iPhone 5c that sent messages to them just fine but now it isn't working when i got this new phone. Any ideas of what I could do?

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.2

    Hello aab118,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that one of your contacts is not receiving your messages. I know how important it is for all your contacts to receive your messages. When you send the message to this contact, does it show up as blue or green? The reason I ask, is that blue messages are iMessages which can only be sent and received by iPhone users. A green message is a text message (SMS) that is sent via your cellular provider.

If the message is green and you are not receiving any errors on your end, then you may want to check with your cellular provider or have your contact check with their cellular provider. The following article has more information about messages:

Use Messages with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    Best Regards

Mine does show as green and it looks as if it sends. I receive messages from them and they can send them to me but when I send something they don't get it.

By the sounds of it, this person used to own an iPhone before Android but they did not deregister their phone number from Apple, so your outgoing messages are trying to go as iMessages.

If that sounds like that may be the case, have this person deregister their phone number at the link below.  All they do is enter their phone number, then when they get a text from Apple with a code, they enter the code on this same page:

The person has never had an iPhone before.

Are you sure your contact info for them is accurate? You are not able to reply to them via SMS. Can you start a conversation with them via SMS?

This sounds like an SMS/MMS issue that your carrier can help you with.

    Carriers are responsible for SMS/MMS.
