I have an I-Pad 2 which I haven't used for a few months.  I turned it off when I got my new I-Pad Air in April.  In August my Apple ID was hacked and has been changed.  The I-Pad 2 was turned off and not active during the process to reset my ID.  Recently I turned on the I-Pad 2 to change the ID to my husband's so he can use it to read his college textbooks which he has in Kindle under his Apple ID.  My now defunct Apple ID still shows on the I-Pad 2 and "find my I-Pad" is on .  My old ID is no longer in use and has no password associated with it to turn off "find my I-Pad."  Therefore the ID can't be changed and the I-Pad 2 cannot be used.  Can't update the iOS or apps, can't log into the Cloud or I-Tunes etc.  Is there a workaround for this problem?  The I-Pad 2 has a pending update for iOS 9.3.5 so it's running the previous version.

iPad 2, iOS 9.3.4

Let me see if I understand this correctly, your ID was hacked while the iPad was not in use, and you created a new Apple ID, is that correct? The existing password for the old ID should work, unless the old ID was completely removed by Apple. If that is the case, you will need to take a copy of the original receipt and if you have a case number that you dealt with Apple with the hacked ID and ask for assistance.
