Q: Is there any way to get iside the Siri dictionary to edit and correct it?

Hello,

 

I  have a bone of contention to pick with Siri. For some dumb reason when I say the word woman it usually miss spells it when I reference it for the title wonder woman and of course it's not doing it right now it does it when I mostly am dictating  A text to send. Siri usually miss spells the word with a Y instead of a letter a as in womyn.  Being  A former administrative assistant I take great pride in making sure I don't miss spell things. I would like to know if there is a way to access the Siri dictionary on the most recent iOS so that I can fix that miss spelled word and maybe even add a few custom  names that I use. Is there anyway to get inside the Siri dictionary and edit it?

    At this time there's no way to edit Siri but you can provide feedback to Apple > http://www.apple.com/feedback/

    For names, you can add Phonetic and Pronunciation fields in your Contacts app.

     

    Select a contact, tap on Edit, then on Add Field and select the fields you want to add.

    Hiya,

     

    It wasn't so much the names that was bothering me - it is misspelling routine words such as "woman" it is spelling incorrectly "womyn" - I thought it might be related to the fact I was using an Australian voice but that isn't it - I switched to USA voice and it still spells "woman" as "Womyn" and that is just one word that I can think of being spelled incorrectly most frequently.  (with my user name on here being "Wonder Woman" I think you can appreciate my frustration.

    The "dictionary" you are referring to is at Apple.

     

    Until Apple opens the API for Siri, there won't be a way to access it's internals.

     

    It just so happens that iOS10 will open Siri up to external developers. So, it may be that custom settings for Siri will become a thing.

    I have a curious question then.....why does it spell "woman" as "womyn"?  This happens on both my 4th Generation iPad and my iPhone 5c.

    No idea really.

     

    Fwiw, Siri and dictation  (two different features by the way) spell women for me correctly.
