Q: 2nd Gen Nano Showing Up-Cannot Click Device Button

My 2nd Gen iPod Nano is showing up on itunes and claiming to sync, but I cannot click on the device button and change anything about it.

It will show up in the sidebar under "device", but dropping that down leads to more grey-ed out songs that I cannot click on.

Any help?

Has Apple stopped supporting these?

The same thing happens with my 4th Gen iPod Touch.

In current iTunes, to access iPod's settings screens, click the iPod's device button on horizontal bar (not the sidebar).  The screenshot below shows upper left corner of my iTunes window, with an iPod's device button circled in red.

Click that button to show iPod's Summary settings screen.  You can then access sync settings for iTunes media, by clicking on media type (like Music or Movies) under Settings, in the sidebar (along left side of window),

NOTE:  If the iPod's song list shows greyed out songs, that may be because iPod is set to use automatic syncing (the Sync Music setting).  When automatic syncing is used, you do not directly (manually) update iPod's song list.  You set up iPod's Music settings screen to tell iTunes how to sync songs to iPod, and iTunes does it "automatically," whenever you connect iPod (or click Sync if already connected).

OR the iPod's song list may be greyed out, if iPod is currently associated with a different iTunes library (not your current iTunes library).

The iPod's song list is not greyed out when iPod is set to Manually manage music [and videos], on the iPod's Summary settings screen.
