Q: Scrivener for PhD work: compatible, footnotes, advice..?

Planning to buy Scrivener for my PhD work. Wondering 1) Can it be used on two computers, home and office? 2) Compatible with Word files? 3) Does it handle footnotes well, like EndNote etc?

It will handle footnotes. It will import and export to Word. It will do footnotes.

Scrivener is almost TOO complicated. It has tons of bells and whistles that you will never use nor ever SHOULD use. My advice is to just try to learn the bare minimum and do the add-ons later if need be.

It is set up mainly for novel writing or for making movie scripts, but I do not a graduate student who is using it.

There is an advantage in that all your files can be copies directly into Scrivener and then used from there. For example, I have copied all the illustrations for my books into Scrivener and then deleted the originals.

    Good. luck.
