Q: OS X asks Where is FinderSyncAPIExtension on startup

Hi, I just reinstalled OS X Yosemite on my 2012 Macbook Pro (not a clean install, just an OS reinstall) and now immediately after logging in I'm getting a prompt to find this application in finder. Does anyone know where it is in the file system? Searching for it did nothing.

Thanks.

I just installed Drive on a new Apple computer and saw that dialog for the first time. I do have Drive syncing with multiple accounts, so this may be one of the triggers.

I think you are right. So maybe one way to help it is to quit Chrome, then hit Cancel. That worked for me just now.

This problem persists into mid 2016 with El Capitan. I'm one example.  The "where is ..." window only happens intermittently.  I also have the problem reported by

danaschwartz below where Google Drive (silently) fails to sync a file and must be restarted in order to sync it.  These two problems could well be related.  Is Google Drive experiencing delays in accessing some of its components that make it time out, throw "where is" windows and bypass a sync?  What needs to be tweaked in the OS to reduce this kind of timeout?

Hi and is there a way to fix this??

All of the above seems so crazy and nobody really seems to have found the solution they were asking for?

Some people have said they did it and it killed the Finder

    Others say it worked...

I am lost and maybe just give up on Google Drive

Any help please would be great

    Thanks
    C

I stumbled over your comment literally 2 minutes after I double-clicked the Google Drive app since I couldn't reach it's packages/contents. Now, when you say terminally....how bad are talking here?
