Q: Ipad2 and bluetooth keyboard wrong characters typed

After the pairing and testing, when I typeded some stuff, but it is not the right keystrokes, EX: shift + 8 should be "*" but shift + 8 is "(".  So some of the shift with a keystroke is changed now and dont know how to change it back.

Stupid question, but is it all possible that when you typed shift + 8 you accidentally typed shift + 9?  The * and ( symbols are next to each other.  Otherwise, I don't have a wireless keyboard and can't offer any real assistance.  In order for people to help you, it might help if you said what type of wireless keyboard you are using.

I thought I was tripping but was definitely sure. If I did Shift + = you should get a '+' but nope it was nothing.

As for the keyboard (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC184).  Also my setting is all correct for the USA standard qwerty setup.

That's a great keyboard and should work well.  I don't think there is anything in settings which would cause this, so I think a call to Apple Care might be the best next option.

I had same problems.  I disconnected wireless keyboard from Bluetooth.  Then turned off ipad.  Then turned on ipad and reconnected keyboard.  Solved problem.  Good luck!

go to settings/keyboard/  and delete other languages keyboards, keep English or whichever one you use. Problem solved.

What is happening is that you have the wrong language keyboard layout selected to work with your bluetooth keyboard.

If you press the fn key on the bluetooth keyboard (this works with my Apple bluetooth keyboard) the iPad will display the different keyboards available to you, you can then toggle between the different languages and select the English keyboard layout.
