Q: The letters "fi" show up as blank space in mail

Hi, I've just upgraded to El Capitan and since doing so whenever I type the letters "fi" into a mail doc it just shows up as a blank space. If I type in to an app such as textedit I don't have the same problem.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Thanks

This is probably a problem with the font being used in Mail and/or the text substitution - "fi"is a combination of letters which admits a "ligature" (i.e. instead of an "f" and an "i" the single glyph "fi" may be substituted; if the font does not contain that character, this problem may arise).

I suggest you select a different font and see if the problem persists.

Thanks very much for your response Luis. I changed the font in mail preferences, restarted the program and it's solved the problem!
