Sep 7, 2016 6:56 AM in response to evechoccyby kerochan,Hi,
If you max it out with the highest spec ever, the Mac Mini should be fine.
Opt for Flash storage too, if its available.

Sep 7, 2016 6:58 AM in response to kerochanby JimmyCMPIT,I'm old school, An i7 should be a quad core/8 hyper thread CPU and if it's not they need to call it something else. Thats like selling someone a motorcycle with one wheel and you don't find out it has one wheel until after you buy it.

Sep 7, 2016 9:13 AM in response to JimmyCMPITby evechoccy,do I need a quad core? I know they don't come with the new one.

Sep 7, 2016 9:37 AM in response to evechoccyby JimmyCMPIT,depending on how ambitious your recording projects get and your needs are dual core CPU can be very capable if it's powerful and the software is optimized to use it. My concern is for years Intel marketed the i7 as the their consumer workhorse but they have also manufactured iterations of the i7 for "mobile" computing which take out much of the power for less battery consumption and heat emission. Why a "mobile" CPU is needed for a model of Mac that historically had the option for the quad core desktop variant prior to this is Apples decision, but for CPU performance the late 2012 Mac minis will outperform the 2015 models. the 2015 have better integrated video. The 2012 can also have their RAM upgraded after purchase to 16GB, the 2015 models require that ram to be added by Apple at the time of purchase for a custom build and the RAM can not be upgraded anytime after by anyone.

Sep 7, 2016 10:05 AM in response to Indyuserby octopi,Indeed, sir. Yours was the best Mac Mini they ever made. Suited Logic work superbly. After the 2012 model Apple really dumbed them down. I think they must have been eating into their iMac sales too much.
I'm not keen at all on the new Mac Mini's… for doing anything.

Sep 7, 2016 10:20 AM in response to evechoccyby kerochan,Ah, I wasnt aware that they dont come as quad core.
IF you have your heart set on a mac mini, then you really need it maxed out, though I agree with the other posters on here.
The latest macmini isnt the ideal choice for music production.
A shame, maybe there will be a new Macmini soon? Any one know?
