Q: Switching Between Desktops Annoying Issue
Hey, everyone,
So my problem (which is mostly annoying) is the fact that when I switch between desktops (not monitors) other widows that I have open will pop up instead of the window that is active. For example, when I'm working on a lab report in pages, I'll have my lab report on Desktop 1 and Safari open on another Desktop 2. If I swipe over from Desktop 1 to Desktop 2, another app window (like Finder) will pop up over Safari, even if Safari was active beforehand. And it keeps happening, too, if I close the windows that are popping up. If I close the Finder window that pops up, Notes will pop up instead, and if I close that one another will take it's place. It's highly annoying and slows my work flow because I have to keep clicking back on the window that I want. It would be great is you guys know a way to solve this.
OSX 10.11.6
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
I hope all of this makes sense!
Thanks!
Brad

I don't know why this may be happening.
For the moment all I can offer is a workaround: instead of specifically switching desktops, use command-tab to switch between Safari and Pages.
If you have checked in System Preferences->Mission Control the box that says
"When switching to an application, switch to a Space with open windows for the application"
that should work.
Edit: forgot to write that I cannot reproduce on my mac the problem you are experiencing - switching desktops maintains the window that was previously active on each desktop.
