Q: Why won't my audio midi setup recognise my external midi devices?

Why won't my audio midi setup recognise my external midi devices? The midi interface and all midi devices are plugged in.

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

P.S. The icons and midi interface are all 'dimmed' in the midi studio window, and when I click or double click on them nothing happens.

    Hi Indyuser,

Thanks for posting a reply so quickly.

I've tried doing everything you do in your video post, but the IAC driver remains dimmed, and when I Rescan Midi, the midi interface and connected devices don't even show up on the Midi Studio window.  Any further advice you'd have on this would be very much appreciated, I'm really stuck.

    Many thanks.

Ok.... Let's delete the AMS configuration files

    Close AMS.

bring up finder -> go->go to folder.... and enter copy and paste this...

    Users/Home/Library/Preferences/ByHos

Then hit enter and sort by name ( click on the name column header)....

Find and delete any files  that are com.Apple.MIDI.xxxxxx

Then re-run AMS and try again....

I'm sorry about this, it says:

    'The folder can't be found'

    And I've tried typing in:

    com.Apple.MIDI.xxxxxx

and I can't get anything to appear in the finder search window / go to folder window.

I'm using OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 so maybe the file location is different, not sure as the searches don't seem to be  turning up anything.

After downloading the latest driver for the USB midi interface I've got (m-audio midisoport 8 x 8 / s), the interface is now displayed in the 'Midi Studio' Window.

When I press 'test setup' in the midi Studio window, my dummy midi keyboard does respond and produce a noise  when I press the keys.  But I am still unsure of how to get my external sound modules recognised and displayed in the 'Midi Studio' window. I keep pressing 'Rescan MIDI' but nothing appears in the 'Midi Studio' window.
