Q: Apple TV iTunes issue

HI.   We recently purchased a second Apple TV for our additional television.   Now that I have 2, they won't both log into iTunes at the same time.   At first when I connected them both via Wifi, it assigned both apple TVs the same IP address.  I've worked around that now -- One is hard wired To the router via an Ethernet cable, one is connected via wifi....each has its own IP address.   All the other apps work (i.e. hulu, netflix, etc) but if one Apple Tv is logged into iTunes the other one will say iTunes is not available.   it does this on both Apple tvs.   They are both 3rd generations.  I have restored them, reset them, rest my modem, I've read the forums that say people have multiple Apple tvs with one iTunes account and have no problem.    I only have 7 devices and 1 computer connected to my iTunes account.  I am VERY VERY frustrated!!!!!  HELP!

Apple TV generally works best with DHCP. You should be able to pre-assign addresses for them in your router. Give them unique names.

Are you sure you're not exceeding the limit of 10 devices? There may be old iPhones, iPods, etc. that are still involved. You can check your devices if you login to your account through a browser.

I've already done that.  Only 1 computer and 7 devices connected to my iTunes account.

Can you give me any more specifics on how to do this?  I know how to access my router online.  I just don't know what it is I'm supposed to change.  The Apple TV upstairs is labled Apple-TV and the basement one is labeled ATV-Basement so they have unique names on my network.

How do I "pre-assign addresses" for them?

It varies by router. In mine it is in an area called LAN Setup. In most cases leaving everything to configure on DHCP automatically will work fine.

Will each device connect to your Apple ID from Settings > Accounts for the iTunes Store and for Home Sharing? Can each access your purchase history in the store? Is it this that they cannot do simultaneously? What about accessing an iTunes library on a computer?
