Yes - AirPods are compatible with iPhone 6s (requires iOS 10 and an iCloud account).

I have been using Bluetooth ever since Apple put the headphone jack on the bottom of the phone.

And you should be able to continue to use those same BT headsets with an iPhone 7.

My point exactly. I see no reason to pay $160 for EarPods that can be so easily lost when I can use Bluetooth.

I assume that the $160 is in American currency. That would make it around $AU200.
