I have an older iPod, Model MB029LL, Version 1.1.2 PC. The serial Number is ******. I know it is an older model iPod. I am having trouble syncing up my music and movies/videos to it. What can I do to fix this problem?

That's a 6th gen iPod classic, based on model ID.  Does the iPod appear in iTunes when connected?

If it does, this screenshot (below) shows the upper left corner of my iTunes window, where the iPod's device button (circled in red) appears when connected.

    iPod device button general.png

Click that device button, to show iPod's Summary settings screen in iTunes.  If you want to use automatic syncing, you set up the iPod's sync settings screens for each iTunes media type.  Start with music.  Along left side of window, in the sidebar, under Settings, click Music.  The iPod's Music settings screen appears to the right, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to iPod.  Checkmark the box for Sync Music.

NOTE:  Any songs on iPod that are not in your computer's iTunes library will be lost.

This turns ON automatic syncing (for music).  You can set it to sync your Entire music library (if it fits on iPod), or Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Set up that screen as desired.

For movies, in the sidebar, under Settings, click Movies.  The iPod's Movies settings screen appears to the right.  Set up that screen as desired.  Repeat for any other iTunes media categories shown in sidebar (that your want to sync automatically).  When you're done, click Apply.

Going forward, iTunes automatically syncs changes to your iTunes library when you connect iPod (or click Sync if already connected), based on how you set up the iPod's sync settings screens.

    Hi,

I am having a similar problem with my iPod Classic. My iPod Classic Model Number is MB562ZP Version 2.0.1 Mac.

It seems that I only able to transfer purchases made prior to 2016. All TV Shows & Movies purchased this year are SD definition. All purchases could not be transferred to my iPod Classic although I can transfer to my iPhone and iPad.

Does Apple make changes to the SD definition files? If not, what can I do to fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

Your problem is actually different from the one describe in original post, which is about setting up iPod to sync (in general).

There seems to be a new higher resolution standard for "SD" recently (in iTunes Store).  One evidence of this is in iTunes preferences Store tab.  There's a checkbox for Download higher-quality SD videos, with tagline "High-quality SD video is not compatible with all iPods."

However, I have tried to download the SD version of recent videos with this checkbox both checked and unchecked, and the downloaded file does not change.  The horizontal part of video's resolution is above 640 (the maximum for iPod classic), when I Get Info on video and look at dimensions on Info window File tab.
