Sorry - not sure what it is you are looking for on iCloud Drive? iCloud Backup data is not viewable. You can see your last backup date by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage>Manage Storage, then select your device. It will show you when the last backup was made.

If you restore from a backup you will see a list of all available backups that you can use to restore the device from.

iCloud Drive is designed to hold files that you have moved to the Drive manually.

    Cheers,

    Thanks.

What I am really looking for are old photos and files that were backed up on iCloud from my device. I mean when I performed a backup on the " Settings " , iCloud .

I had searched for this extensively, and on Windows 7 can do it on icloud.com.  But on

Safari I get an irrelevant page.

OK, so you are saying that you can see Photos on iCloud.com? If you can, then those are not backed up, they are in the iCloud Photo Library. That is a different animal. If that is not what you mean, then can you explain what you mean when you say that you can "do it on iCloud.com"?

You cannot retrieve photos from a backup without restoring the entire backup to your device.

    HI GB,

    I appreciate your comments.

However it is important to me to backup photos and other files automatically on the Settings , iCloud etc.

this I have done for years.

I know now that in case of reinstalling say a new device, it can be done through iTunes on a desktop. Or by WiFi on an iOS device.

BUT I need to retrieve some photos from a backup without reinstalling or re setup.

I know this can be done  on iCloud as I have researched it on the Web.

NOW, I rarely use Desktop or Windows in fact as I rely on my iOS devices.

in my opinion that is the way it should be.

so, I know and have done this: icloud.com on Desktop.

so wished to do it on ipad.

in short, I need to access my backed up photos.

Should I then only back up my data straight on to hard disk on my desktop??

    thanks,

cheers have a good night In Maine.

    Geoffrey

Again, there is no way to retrieve a part of an iOS backup. The best way to archive your photos is to import them to your Windows machine: IMPORTING PHOTOS - WINDOWS/MAC

iOS Backups are specifically (and only) done so that you can restore a phone, or set up a new phone with all of your Settings, Documents, Messages, Camera Roll Photos, Notes, etc. as they looked when they were backed up.

Not sure what you have read on the Web, but there is no way to extract data independently on an iOS backup.

    Best of luck,

If you’re using Apple’s iCloud Photo Library to store your photos online, you can also restore deleted photos. You can restore these photos on iCloud’s website, on a Mac with the Photos app, or on your iPhone or iPad.

    • Any Web Browser: Go to iCloud’s website, sign in, click the Photos icon, select the “Albums” category, and open the “Recently Deleted” album.
    • iPhone or iPad: Open the Photos app, select Albums, and select Recently Deleted.
    • Mac OS X: Open the Photos app, click the File menu, and select “Show Recently Deleted.” Unlike on other platforms, there’s no “Recently Deleted” album in the Albums view here.

As with files you delete in iCloud Drive, copies of your deleted photos are stored for 30 days.

Look at the most recent media on these problems.  All of us at some time came to apple and migrated because of our satisfaction with the iPod.  We added our own content and purchased just the music we really liked to build our perfect music building experience.  Fast forward and now so many of us now have the iPhone for music and communication that Apple figures it can force us all to subscribe to it's music subscription by incapacitating our devices and forcing our compromise to be able to listed to some of our music if we have hours to filter through tons of Apple's mistakes within the app.  This, people, is the problem with capitalism when, you, the people become pons in their social experiment to increase profit at our expense.  Well, enough said, I only use half my iPhone now and have been extremely pleased with Amazon music, have stopped purchasing anything from Apple am now looking forward to the switch to android.  I thank Apple for opening my eyes on this since I had fooled myself for years that Apple was about the experience.  But this is soooooo easy now that I can see Apple being caught in their scam on their users

Again, that is what I said in the previous post. An iOS backup on iCloud and iCloud Photo Library are not related. iCloud Photo Library is a Sharing system that will share photos between devices that have iCloud Photo Library turned on int he Photos app. It is not an archival system, so if you have deleted those photos from a device, you have also deleted them from the iCloud Photo Library.

The article you linked has nothing to do with iOS backups. It has to do with using the Restore Files, Contacts, Calendars feature now available in iCloud.com, and it has to do with using the Recently Deleted Photos album to restore photos. This album resides on your iPhone as well. However, the Recently Deleted Photos album only keeps deleted photos for 30 days, so if you don't recover them within that time period you cannot retrieve them.

re:  ( Again, there is no way to retrieve a part of an iOS backup)

Look.  There is much discussion here and on the Web and Facebook and Twitter about all topics. especially on virtues and

    disadvantages of Apple.

However for your information, i have now gone to my Laptop Windows and am able to access icloud partially or whole, according to that info sheet I just sent .  And I will show you now:

    A screenshot!

This does not work on ipad or iphone of mine unfortunately.

The whole purpose of an automatic or manual backup, is that it should be retrievable even in part.

Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, I am unable to do this on my normally, so very intuitive and well programmed Ipad and iphone

    GOOD Luck to you

It is unfortunate that you seem to have a total misunderstanding of how this works. Apple Music is not required for anyone. I don't use it because I don't like it. I have my iTunes Library, my purchases, my playlists, and I manage them via an iTunes Sync (as has always been the case) or by downloading the music directly to my devices.

If you are facing specific issues, then this forum is a place for you to ask for help. If you don't specify what your issues are then no one can help you.

You are mixing your terminology. What is stored on iCloud is not the same as an iCloud backup. iCloud stores and continually syncs Contacts, Calendars, Notes, Photo Stream. iCloud Drive stores and syncs documents and other files you have manually saved to the Drive.

You can also subscribe to Apple Music which uses the iCloud Music Library, or you can enable iCloud Photo Library to sync your photos.

iCloud backups are done by going to Settings>iCloud>Backup>Backup Now, or by setting up Automatic Backups which will back up your device once every 24 hours when the device is on the Lock Screen, plugged into a power source, and on Wifi.

You cannot access the iCloud website via an iOS device. You have to access it via a computer for full usage, however, you can access it via an iOS device by opening Safari, then type in iCloud.com, when it comes up, click on the Sharing icon, then click on the Request Desktop Site. Sign in there and you will be able to do some iCloud.com functions.

And BTW, the Photos icon you see on iCloud.com is not activated unless you are using iCloud Photo Library.
