Q: I submitted my rss feed kver a week ago and havent received a confirmation email that it is under review

My rss feed was resubmitted as I originally had the show on iTunes. My rss feed is through podbean. I temporarily deleted the show but have reactivated the account. After resubmitting the RSS feed over a week ago, I have not even received a confirmation email that it is under review. All seems ok when submitting but it seems like there has been zero activity from iTunes. My rss feed is http://hardcoregeekcast.podbean.com/feed/

Please don't post more than once. It can take at least a couple of weeks for a podcast to be assessed after it's been submitted; you should have had a notification email when you submitted it but it's not unknown for these to go astray. Try submitting it again - you will probably find you are told that it's already been submitted, which is a confirmation that it's under review and so it's just a question of waiting.

    Hello Roger.

My apologies for posting twice. That was a mistake. I actually have submitted the RSS feed a few times with the hope of just simply getting somega kind of notification but I have had no luck. No notification that it is under review or rejected. I have contacted apple and have received no reply in over a week. Should I worry that I have received zero notifications?

It's not possible to say from the outside what is going on within Apple. If you are able to submit it more than once that suggests that the submission process isn't working. You could try contacting Support - I don't know whether you were using the correct method before. Go to https://itunespartner.apple.com/en/podcasts/overview and click the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of the page.

OK thanks. I've never had this trouble before with any of our past shows. Something must be going on.

    HCGeek,

How does the podcast appear when you login to Podcasts Connect? What is the status?

Most of the time, when podcasters write in that their podcast is not approved, the podcast was rejected long ago and needs to be re-submitted with a new feed URL. If you don't want to change your feed URL, contact Support as Roger noted and request it is re-activated by one of the iTunes Store staff.

    https://help.apple.com/itc/podcasts_connect/?lang=en#/itc8a10a0c56

If Apple removed a podcast for technical reasons (for example, difficulty downloading an episode), you can use Podcasts Connect to resubmit the podcast once you resolve the technical issue. If Apple removed a podcast for a concern type that does not allow you to resubmit the podcast, Podcasts Connect dims the podcast in the dashboard and you cannot delete the podcast. Instead you must fix the issue, change the RSS feed URL, and submit the podcast as a new podcast.

    Nancy,

If you previously had a Podcast in iTunes and it has been deactivated, you have two options:

    A. (Fastest) Change your podcast title, verify your new feed URL is different than your original, and submit this podcast. It will be approved usually within five days (normally around 24 hours).

    B. (Slower) Contact iTunes Store Podcast Support directly, noting your old and new URLs and request assistance.

    Explanation:

    (Quoted from https://help.apple.com/itc/podcasts_connect/?lang=en#/itc8a10a0c56):

If Apple removed a podcast for technical reasons (for example, difficulty downloading an episode), you can use Podcasts Connect to resubmit the podcast once you resolve the technical issue.

This situation above would not apply. You are not submitting your FeedBurner URL again.

If Apple removed a podcast for a concern type that does not allow you to resubmit the podcast, Podcasts Connect dims the podcast in the dashboard and you cannot delete the podcast. Instead you must fix the issue, change the RSS feed URL, and submit the podcast as a new podcast.

This is probably the situation you are experiencing. If you login to Podcasts Connect under the email you used to submit your podcast, the podcast is probably dimmed out. Apple suggests:

    1. Fix the Issue:
    You have already.
If your podcast validates when you click "Validate" in Podcasts Connect, then you can be pretty confident the issue isn't with your feed. (You are including a link in your iTunes:summary section. Contact Blubrry for help on how to add links in your iTunes:summary section, or see Apple's suggestion regarding CDATA tags.)

    2. Change the RSS feed URL

You have already. You are submitting a new feed URL.

    3. Submit the podcast as a new podcast

You are submitting the podcast with the exact same title and <link>.

I recommend temporarily changing your title to avoid confusion, then submitting. It seems like the iTunes Store is recognizing your new podcast submission with the exact same title and <link> tag, matching it to an existing podcast that was previously rejected, and rejecting it.

Of course, if we can't assist you here, get in touch with Podcasts Support. I'm hearing most people get a response in 24 hours.
