There should be pairs of photos with the extension .JPG and .AAE - some filename, but different filename extension.
The .AAE files are not image files but sidecar files describing the effects applied to your iPhone photos. You do not need to import these files. If you are using a software that understands .AAE files like Photos for Mac, it will apply the effects to the JPEGS when it imports the JPEGs into the Photos Library and is seeing the sidecar file at the same time. Without a compatible software just ignore the additional .AAE.
