Q: Blocking pop up ads on mozilla

Hi all

I'm running an imac with OS X 10.8.5 and currently using mozilla firefox 48.0.2. Recently I've notices really annoying pop up /banner ads on certain websites, which cause some websites to really slow or not load at all, for example www.gumtree.com.au. I've downloaded and installed what I think is the latest update for mozilla firefox and my imac is up to date. Question is, can any thing be done to prevent these ads? I've included some screen shots to show what is happening.

Thank you in advanced.Screen Shot banner ads2016-09-05 at 11.37.00 PM.pngScreen Shot banner ads1 2016-09-05 at 11.45.33 PM.pngScreen Shot banner ads 3 PM.png

    Sydmak,

    Try Firefox>Tools>Add-ons>Get Add-ons>AdBlock Plus.

I already have that adblocker installed so I removed it, refreshed firefox and reinstalled adblocker plus but still the same ads appear. Any other suggestions? Thanks

Do you have any other extensions installed in Firefox?

Try running this program and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Thanks for the advice guys, I've seemed to solve the issue and now no ads are popping up. I downloaded Malmarebytes software and ran it. It found some files which I deleted and refreshed firefox, so, at the moment all seems good.
