Q: Airdrop not functioning

Hello,

My Macbook pro's air drop is not working from the very first day of purchase. I have tried to find out but no device  just shown in air drop window. I have set it to "Allow me to be discovered by everyone" but it's not working. Is this a hardware malfunction or just something in settings to be changed? Please help.
