Q: NFL Game Pass Apple TV

I have an Apple TV generation 3. I'm an American living in Malaysia. I have a subscription to NFL Game Pass, and the NFL app which runs it on the apple tv.

Every time I open the app on apple tv now, I get a black screen with the text "NFL is unavailable. Try again later."

No more, no less, can't even log in/log out of nfl app.

This app worked excellently last season! I checked to see if it was a problem with my subscription, but I can watch just fine on the nfl.com website (on any other computer).

Help!

Is the app officially available in your current region, or are you trying to use an app that was originally downloaded in the US? I would assume your current location, which was detected by the servers is what creates the issue.

You can try contacting Apple directly by clicking on the Contact Us link on the bottom of this page.

Just asking, are you using a VPN on your computer? That could make it work differently from the ATV.

The app is definitely available in Malaysia, and has worked fine in the past. It wasn't downloaded in the U.S.... I've experimented with changing regions and iTunes Store locations to confirm this.

I do have a VPN. And I had  it in the past when app was working. Whenever I wanted to use the app, I turned the VPN off, and it would work fine (It didn't if it was on). Now when I disable it, nothing.

You said you can still watch on your computer. Is that with or without the VPN? I wonder if NFL has decided to stop offering the service in your region, and they're blocking you based on IP address.

I can watch on the computer without the VPN. It seems to be isolated to the Apple TV. The software is updated too. Ive tried restarting, and even just restored it to factory settings. The VPN on computer is off, and even the router that holds the VPN isn't even plugged in.  Similar Apple TV apps such as mlb, nba, nhl work just fine. Quite frustrating.

I live in Los Angeles and it's doing the same thing on my ATV. It just says "NFL is unavailable. Try again later." I can watch fine from my computer as well. Very frustrating.

I Am having the same issue on my 2nd gene Apple TV.

I have tried rebooting everything and restoring the Apple TV back to factory settings and still no help.

    Has anyone found a solution?

Me too. I'm in Australia and have a 2nd apple TV as well. Each time i click on the app I just get "NFL app is unavailable"

To make it worse I have an Apple TV 3rd Generation in another room and this one works perfectly....so it seems to be related to the 2nd gen Apple TV??

    Anyone got any answers!

Well, i think we have a winner!!!   I hadn't thought about it being a Gen issue.  But if you 3rd gen is working and your 2nd isn't (as mine is), then i'm thinking unfortunately Apple TV is trying to make us step our game up.

It was working FINE last year and actually worked better than the computer, so i was SUPER pumped.  And now, it's not working!!!
