Q: How to remove the hard drive from a dead 2006 iMac

HI, my 2006 iMac died out on me a few years ago before I had a chance to clear the drive. I would like to take the hard drive out but have read that these things can still hold some sort of electrical juice? Would like to remove it then recycle anything I should know before doing it myself? Would a computer that has been disconnected for over 3 years still be able to cause some damage? Thanks in advance for any help

iFixit has detailed disassembly instructions and photographs.

You should take the usual precautions associated with any similar activity; eye protection for example. As long as you disconnect its power cord, it contains no device capable of retaining harmful electrical energy.
