Q: Away message, mail
So I've been on vacation for a week, to return today and learned that my away message did absolutely nothing. I have people who think I've just ignored them for days now. I am not happy.
This IMAP account is on two computers, my work and home. I set up the rule at work and tested it fine (didn't do the apply), shutdown the computer.
At home I didn't even think of testing the account again, and shutdown that computer before leaving.
Do I need to set the away reply rule on EVERY computer that has the IMAP account connected to it? or only to the last device that will receive mail? (Meaning shutdown the work computer, go home, setup the rule there, then shutdown that comp)
Finally, and this better not be true, but does OSX Mail need to be running for the rule to be active?
MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), I know a little about everything I suppose.

If you set up the rule in your email client the client must be running to have the rule work. The place to set up such a rule is on the email server. You do this by accessing the server's web mail page.
