Q: Finder Keeps showing up as rubbish in the window OSX 10.9.5

Hi Can you help? My Finder keeps doing this?

Finder window.png

And then it is effectively useless, unless I force quit and relaunch. it they may let me in normally for a couple of windows and then it goes back to doing this again? At which point I have to restart the computer.

This it the last system log query that Ive retrieved from using the console. Please can you help?

Many thanks

Alex

    Might be a corrupt .plist.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.

Re-launch Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.

If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.

Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

I had the same issue. Removing Google Drive and then rebooting fixed it.

If you run Google Drive on your Mac running OS X 10.9.5, remove/uninstall Google Drive app.

There is a bug that has returned, been reintroduced in the last Google Drive updates that brought back a bug in the OS X Finder in OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks.

This bug appeared in the Finder with Google Drive and OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks a long time, ago, when Mavericks was first available.

This bug has seemed to returned.

    Good Luck!
