Q: Is 128gb enough for what I need

I am currently looking at purchasing a  Mac book air 8gb 128gb I am only

going to be using it for writing college work and storing pictues when my iPhone is full. I also may be wanting to get the windows package. Will this be enough or would I be better off getting the Mac Pro 4gb 500gb. Thanks

You are clearly a young person and almost certainly hoping for a Mac with a long life.   If the budget allows buy the 500Gb.   But remember, although photos can take a lot of space, you will need back up, maybe two times over.

If you buy the 128Gb, those back ups should allow you to save the photos now and then, then remove them off the MB air ... thereby releasing space.

    Good luck.

It will depend on how many pictures you want to store (and what else you keep on the Mac Book Air).  If you want to keep thousands you may need the extra storage or use another medium to store.  I would look at the how much storage you need and then work out if it is worth the extra cost for the bigger storage capacity.

Thats great! So would the 4gb be enough for what i need to use it for on the pro? Or pay the extra and get 8gb and 256gb on the air.

8Gb plus 256Gb meets the question half way.   Again, budget allowing, better than the lower version.  I'm guessing you need windows because of college links.

I Don't think I necessarily need Windows for college it's more of a back up for me incase I don't like Apples equivalent. I will probabley go for the pro if the 4gb will do.

The difference is more one of safety in my view.   You will soon get used to Apple ways and the machines are meant for Apple rather than Windows.   I have had very few problems with Safari and the Apple programs.

    Pay the extra!!!

I had a MacBook Air 128GB, and it was not enough room. You'll be surprised how quickly it's gone.

If you think about it, you already have roughly 8GB allocated to the operating system. If you use Microsoft Office, there is another 3-5GB.

Obviously I'm not going to go overboard, but in my experience, people with 128GB hard drives are regularly having to delete things because of a lack of disk space.

I couldn't recommend getting at least 256GB of storage.

    Good luck!
