Q: calendar not syncing

I am having problems with items created in the OSX calendar app syncing with my iphone 6.  I create an appointment on my mac, sync the phone, and the appointment does not show up on the calendar on my phone. I have tried restarting the calendar on my phone, restarting the calendar app on my mac, restarting iTunes, and syncing my phone multiple times, all without my latest appointments being visible on my phone. The software on both my phone and my mac is up to date. Does anybody have any suggestions?

    The calendar app was set to 'push', which according to the help file "updates the account when you make a change on any of your devices that use the same account". I changed it to update every 5 minutes to no effect. It looks like both my Mac and my iPhone are syncing through iCloud, and they are both set up to sync my calendar. None of the changes that I make to the calendar on my iMac are reflected on my iPhone.

    I am able to create new contacts on my iMac and have them sync with my phone. However, appointments in my calendar still will not sync between my iPhone and my iMac. It does not matter which device the appointments were made on, they are not reflected on the other.

    Rebooting my iPhone and iMac has no effect on calendar syncing. I set the calendar app on my iPod touch to sync using iCloud. That created duplicate events on my iPod, iMac and iPhone which had to be deleted from each manually. I am not sure if this is a Calendar app issue, or an iCloud issue...
